Ann Gillis's acting career began when she was a mere nine years old. Gillis started her acting career landing roles in such films as the dramatic sports film "King of Hockey" (1936) with Dick Purcell, the musical "The Singing Cowboy" (1936) with Gene Autry and "Off to the Races" (1937). She also appeared in "The Californian" (1937) with Ricardo Cortez, "Little Orphan Annie" (1938) ...

Biography

Ann Gillis's acting career began when she was a mere nine years old. Gillis started her acting career landing roles in such films as the dramatic sports film "King of Hockey" (1936) with Dick Purcell, the musical "The Singing Cowboy" (1936) with Gene Autry and "Off to the Races" (1937). She also appeared in "The Californian" (1937) with Ricardo Cortez, "Little Orphan Annie" (1938) and "Peck's Bad Boy With the Circus" (1938). She kept working in film throughout the thirties and the forties, starring in "Beau Geste" (1939), "Edison, the Man" (1940) with Spencer Tracy and the drama "Little Men" (1940) with Kay Francis. She also appeared in "My Love Came Back" (1940) with Olivia de Havilland. During the latter part of her career, she continued to act in the Claudette Colbert drama "Since You Went Away" (1944), "In Society" (1944) and "Janie" (1944). She also appeared in the Joan Leslie sequel "Janie Gets Married" (1946) and the Bud Abbott comedy "The Time of Their Lives" (1946). Gillis more recently acted in the sci-fi picture "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) with Keir Dullea.
